2026

We spent winter and spring getting the lab set up and advertising the lab at Extension meetings. This year is the first field season for the lab. Incoming students spend the summer working on their research projects and collecting data before starting grad school. Simon is monitoring squash bug population dynamics in different squash fields, while Gavin is studying the effectiveness of different traps to monitor peach twig borer populations. We are also sampling thrips in onion and squash fields to determine the thrips species composition throughout the summer. Finally, we are surveying for invasive species in Utah berries. This work will not be possible without the help of our wonderful undergrads, Ryan, Trey, Grace, and Evelyn! We are also grateful for Mair and Megan from the Extension team who helped us
